The mission at HOPE is to help individuals secure housing, provide opportunities, encourage progress, and strengthen stability.
Founded in 1992 by a group of business and faith leaders in downtown Mobile and later incorporated as a 501C3 nonprofit in 1995, HOPE, previously known as Housing First, Inc., was originally established to address the growing number of individuals experiencing homelessness in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Their goal was to develop solutions that best meet the needs of the most vulnerable who were without housing.
Initially focused on grassroots efforts, the organization provided emergency shelter, transitional housing, and essential support services. Since its inception, HOPE has expanded its programs and services, offering more than just housing to combat homelessness and uplift communities along the Gulf Coast. For that reason, in 2025, for its 30th anniversary of service to the community, Housing First, Inc. broadened its vision and became known as HOPE for All Gulf Coast. This name reflects the commitment to providing Housing, Outreach, Progress, and Empowerment (H.O.P.E.) for all our unhoused neighbors in need.
While our name has changed, our mission remains to prevent and end homelessness by connecting individuals and families to safe, stable housing and the resources needed to thrive.
