Housing First, Inc. is a non-profit agency, whose mission is to end homelessness in southwest Alabama. Founded in 1996 by a coalition of business, community and faith based leaders, it has grown to more than 50 employees with four locations. Housing First serves approximately 700 homeless individuals, families and veterans per year, through street outreach, housing and temporary financial assistance. Its signature projects include the annual Point-in-Time Count and Project Homeless Connect. Housing First utilizes federal funding programs as well as private donations, in addition to local foundation funding, in order to serve those seeking assistance in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
